It’s finally here! Windows Phone 7 has been out for a few weeks overseas, but in the US, today’s the day we can finally grab a device, if you’re lucky. Mike has been doing an excellent job introducing us to the device and the revamped UI. And if you’re one of the lucky ones to get a WP7 device, your app needs should be met (for the most part) by Microsoft’s ever-expanding App store dubbed the “Marketplace”.
On the Marketplace’s first day there was a whopping 86 total apps to browse through, but according to Italian-based MyLostBlog, there seems to be roughly 1,636 apps for WP7. Of course, this pales in comparison to the 300,000 iPhone apps or the also daunting 100,000 Adroid app counts, but it’s not about how many apps you have, but rather which apps you have and the quality of those apps.
The exponential growth in the app count is no surprise considering the heavy dose of WP7 evangelism that Microsoft has done in the past few months, but what remains to be seen is if the masses prefer the Metro user interface apps like they have the Apple and android versions for the past few years.
For the full story as well as app statistics, head over to MyLostBlog, but be warned it’s in Italian, so you may need to use a translator.
