Apple killing off Xserve sales January 31st, OS X still transitionable though

In case you didn’t know and to the dismay of people and businesses whom swear by using OS X on their servers, Apple is killing off the Xserve on January 31st halting sales through it’s website.

The rack-mountable processing powerhouses, which are hugely popular amongst medium sized business and individuals alone, will no longer be available for purchase after January, although full support of those already sold is promised by the Apple care team, meaning that all warranties and extended service programs will be carried through.

“Apple Transition Guide”

Apple has released a “transition guide” for anybody who loves OS X, advising that users switch over to the Mac Pro or the Mac mini. Naturally both of these will have the option for having OS X Snow Leopard Server installed on purchase, but wouldn’t you prefer a huge slab of aluminium? We would.
