You saw Apple’s “magical” keynote last week and you thought to yourself, “that MacBook Air is a very slick notebook.” So, you cracked open your wallet and made Apple $1,000-$1,200 richer. Then you sit down in front of it and think to yourself, “This is a great-looking laptop, but if only I had a useful operating system on it.” You are in luck.
I will not take credit for this because I stumbled across this how-to guide on Cnet, but since this is a Windows news site and since I have no plan on purchasing a MacBook Air just to try this out for myself, I figured we have readers that will find this guide more-than-useful in installing the world’s best OS on their new toy.Dong Ngo of Cnet’s Windows 7 Insider, has taken the time to go through the process of taking Windows 7 and installing it on a new MacBook Air via a USB thumbdrive. I’ve read through the guide and it is very detailed and easy to follow and includes pictures.
Here are some things you’ll need:
- A PC running Window 7 with an optical drive
- USB thumbdrive (4GB or larger)
- Windows 7 installation DVD
The process will take an hour or so depending on your familiarity with some of the processes. If you have any experience with Windows installations, this shouldn’t be difficult at all.
